Enbridge Gas Ohio is kicking off a series of pipeline replacement projects across Cleveland in early 2025. These upgrades aim to modernize aging infrastructure, enhance safety, and improve service reliability for local communities.
What’s Happening?
Starting January 6, 2025, Enbridge will begin replacing old steel pipelines with new plastic mainlines across multiple locations in Cleveland, covering neighborhoods in Wards 9, 12, 13, and 14. The projects will involve roadwork and sidewalk excavations, with work zones allowing for two-way traffic under the guidance of traffic control personnel. Driveways and businesses will remain accessible throughout construction.
Key project areas include:
-
PIR 3489 (Ward 9) – Parkside Rd., East 97th St., East 99th St., Thorn Ave., Parkgate Ave., Pierpont Ave., Adams Ave., and East Blvd.
-
PIR 3860 (Ward 14) – West 65th St. from Denison Ave. to Storer Ave.
-
PIR 3804 (Ward 13) – West 48th St., West 49th St., West 50th St., West 52nd St., Ardmore Ave., and Woburn Ave.

In cases where weather conditions delay permanent road and sidewalk restoration, temporary concrete sidewalks and road caps will be placed until final restorations can be completed in spring 2025.
What to Expect
-
Work will take place Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
-
Traffic will be maintained, but some delays should be expected.
-
Safety personnel will be on-site to assist with traffic flow.
-
Residents and businesses will continue to have access to their properties.
Why It Matters
Replacing aging gas pipelines is essential for ensuring long-term safety and reliability. The new plastic mainlines are more resistant to corrosion and leaks, reducing the likelihood of service interruptions in the future. These projects are part of a larger effort by Enbridge to modernize infrastructure and enhance energy delivery in Ohio.
